“Ineptocracy: A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and service paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.” Anon
“A bias in favor of male offspring has left China with 32 million more boys under the age of 20 than girls, creating ‘an imminent generation of excess men,’ a study said. For the next 20 years, China will have increasingly more men than women of reproductive age, according to the paper, which was published online by the British Medical Journal. “Republicans failed in a bid to ban abortions conducted to select for sex but opened a new front in their battle against abortion. The bill would make it a federal crime, punishable by up to five years in prison, to perform an abortion knowing it was sought because of the fetus’s gender.
“Democrats criticized the vote as a political effort to win the support of antiabortion activists in an election year and said it would put doctors in the position of judging a woman’s motives in requesting an abortion, amounting to a backdoor damper on abortion in general. Abortion to select for sex is more common in parts of China and India, where tradition can give priority to sons. Abortion foes say the practice occurs in the U.S. as well.
“’This is an important issue to the American people,’ said House Speaker John Boehner (R. Ohio). ‘This type of sex selection … most Americans find pretty repulsive.’
“Earlier this week, Live Action, an antiabortion group, released videos showing Planned Parenthood workers in Texas and New York advising women who said they wanted to end their pregnancies because they believed they were carrying girls. Planned Parenthood said a Texas employee was fired after she reported the incident in the video to supervisors and they decided she hadn’t followed proper procedures. It said the video of the New York employee showed professional conduct in accordance with ‘social work standards for patient interaction.’” Janet Hook/Louise Radnofsky, The Wall Street Journal, June 1, 2012, p.
